san diego

O my lovely San Diego. It was so wonderful to visit you for a few brief days. Thank you for pausing June gloom for a short time so we could enjoy the glorious sun and beach.

San Diego was beyond amazing. I had been extremely homesick for the past few weeks because I missed my family, my friends and watching So You Think You Can Dance with Bri. I missed reading Harry Potter while soaking in the Del Mar beach sun . . . like a boss. I know that Brett is my family now, but this was my first official summer away from San Diego, so it was hard to get adjusted. Thus, the return to San Diego for a few days was 10000% needed.

While there, Brett and I and a few friends relived a summer tradition of going to the San Diego summer fair. But, we still couldn't escape the Texan flare since Lonestar was having a concert there.

Lonestar concert with fwiends.

The reason we came to San Diego was for Brett's best friend's wedding. Stephen and Annabel were married on June 22, 2012 in the San Diego temple. I loved that we were there to witness the sealing (the wedding), especially since it was my first sealing ceremony since my own nearly a year before. The Spirit was so strong in the room and I couldn't help tearing up a little bit when the sealer said his words of love and eternal families.

They couldn't have asked for a nicer day to have a wedding. The weather was perfection to a T.

 The wives club.

My incredible cook mother hosted a luncheon in between the sealing and the reception. She cooked the most delectable meal for 20-some people with only an hour's notice. I want to be like her.

The reception. Brett's parents and sister were able to come down for the wedding and I loved being able to spend time with them if only for a brief day.

After the wedding day, we went to the beach and finally went back in the ocean water. I forgot how much I missed rolling in the waves and feeling the crispiness of the remaining salt on my skin.

After the beach, we did family pictures and my Nana and Poppop's house and then we went to my good family friend's house for a delish barbecue.

On Sunday, my family and I were also able to go to Winston's mission farewell on Sunday. He is a good family friend of ours and we enjoyed hearing his last words before he becomes a missionary in Salt Lake City. We know he's going to be the greatest missionary! I also loved seeing my friend Jenn (Winston's sister) and chatting it up before we had to leave for our flight back to Dallas.

What a great trip. Special thanks to Bri for letting me borrow all her clothes and doing my hair and makeup e'erday.
