let the good times roll

Yesterday Brett and I had a great great great day. It was just great.

Here's why:

We slept in till 9:30 and went to the gym at 10:00. I went to yoga and zumba and Brett worked his tall body out upstairs. Yoga was amazing. I'm seriously considering training to become a yoga instructor.

Next we stopped by DI and got ourselves some nice paintings for ten bucks each. We love them.

Brett and I love bright colors so these paintings are perfect and fill up a good amount of our blank walls. I love the modern look of the one above and the whimsical look of the giraffes in the Garden of Eden as Brett says.

Then we relaxed for a bit and ate asparagus with lemon and Parmesan cheese which is d.e..l.i.c.i.o.u.s. and watched some Jeopardy episodes.

Then we went to the Provo temple and spent a lovely two hours or so there.

Then we went lazor tagging with our friends Elliott, Megan, and Stephen and Annabel. And I got 2nd place out of like 20 people! I annihilated the other people! I usually stink at lazortag! I was so proud of myself and I'm sure everyone got really annoyed with my shouts of bewildered joy. Brett got 1st, so us Candlands conquered e'erbody.

Then the group came back and had dessert at our place and watched youtube videos.

It was such a great day. I love days where I'm out and about being productive and having fun. I used to not be a big fan of Saturdays in wintry Utah because it was so cold and I didn't have a car. But, now they're my favorite day second to Sunday. Anyway, I hope you all had a happy day!

chinese new year

To celebrate the Chinese New Year we ate dinner at the McCloskeys.
A gourmet Chinese dinner to be exact. It was amazing.

Happy year of the dragon!

movies i have to see before the oscars

I love the Oscars. I really really really do.

I just looked at the 2011 Academy Awards nominees.

I loved The Help and Midnight in Paris and Hugo, thus I'm excited they are nominated for best picture.

I kind of want Hugo to win.

And I strongly agree with nominating Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and and Jessica Chastain for The Help. They did good.

You is smart, you is kind, you is important.

Anyway, I still need to see:
The Artist
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
The Iron Lady

The other ones are rated R, and I choose not to watch movies with that rating. I will definitely see Girl With the Dragon Tattoo when it comes out edited.

I'm so excited to go see these movies before the grand Oscar day!

BYU pride

Brett and I went to BYU's Got Talent on Wednesday night to cheer on our friend's girlfriend. She played a beautiful Celtic piece on the violin. I told her after that she should audition for the folk dance band and she just laughed at me. I'm glad that we went because we witnessed the amazing talents people have at BYU. Seriously, only at BYU will you hear four part harmonies during hymns . . . there is so much talent especially in the music department.

On Thursday, Brett and I joined our friends Kellyn and Glen at the BYU basketball game. It was loads of fun even though we lost because I got to see the Cougarettes dance and I think they're great :D Basketball at BYU isn't nearly as fun anymore without Jimmer, but the Candlands are still loud and proud and die-hard BYU fans.

The lighting in the Marriott center was so weird. Forgive me for these nearly psychedelic pictures.

I love BYU. I would not want to go to any other college. I'm grateful everyday for it. I will forever and ever bleed blue.

Thus ends my cheesy tribute to my university.

life and guns

Brett and I went shot gun shooting with our friends Brian and Jennica on MLK day.

I've never shot a shot gun before. I've shot a rifle in Wyoming and some other guns at a shooting range, but never a shot gun.

Let's face it, guns scare me. They're just so powerful and dangerous and scary. One little mistake and I could blow my husband's or my foot off or something. Not good not good. I like to pretend I'm a badass sometimes, but in reality I'm really really not. I'm actually most likely the biggest dork you'll ever meet and definitely not a fly person. Hence, big guns=scaredy-cat Victoria.

Fortunately, nothing disastrous occurred whilst shot gun shooting. And it was fun. But still freaking scary. I tried to laugh off my fear, thus many of the pictures we have are of me hysterically laughing.

Jennica playing with her new camera

 Me being classy

the boys preparing the clay pigeon shooter

Brett kind of chilly in the snow

At least I married a badass

and cue the pictures of my hysteria

disclaimer: the shot gun was not cocked when it was in this position

 we're done and leaving

The landscape was beautiful out there. The snow was all over the mountains specked with evergreen trees and little creeks. Everything was silent in between the pounding booms of the shot gun.

After that, we went to Brian and Jennica's for dinner and had d.e.l.i.c.o.u.s. enchiladas and fudge. Num num num. Jennica, that fudge was incredible.

Martin Luther King Day was such a wonderful day. I got a new blazer and new boots as well! I love days where I'm out and about experiencing things, and MLK day was just that.

Another thing to make life just simply wonderful: Brett surprised me last night with a candlelit fondue dinner he had prepared all by himself. It was so romantic and amazing and exactly what I needed after 8 hours at school.

I swear my life isn't always rainbows and sunshine like it sometimes appears to be on this blog, but I have been having a realllllly wonderful few weeks and I cannot help but express it!

Life is beautiful!

Saturday was so good for my qi.

I went to a yoga class at 24.

And I got a Swedish massage at the massage therapy school with my friend Lindsey.

Relaxation is so nice. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I've been having such a great week.
Brett and I have been social and have been having a lot of fun. It's very needed because last semester and this past summer were the hardest 6 months of my life.

It's so nice to be married to a man that I love to be around. Not only are we in love, but we're best friends and we can just laugh together.

Today we have school off. Brett and I went to Mimi's Cafe this morning and walked around Barnes and Noble for a bit. We're going shot gun shooting later today with some friends which should be great but a little scary.

Happiness to my soul. My qi has been happy lately and it feels o so good.

Happy Martin Luther King Day!

this little munchkin

This little munchkin is back from Disney World. (the one on the right obviously)

Last night she came over for dinner along with our good friend Elliott.

She was living both of our dreams in Florida playing princesses.

I missed my Jennifred.
And I'm so happy and jealous that she went to work for Disney for a semester. I auditioned for Disney my freshman year in the dance and character roles and made it to the top ten, but if I had gone I wouldn't have started dating Brett. There are some things worth sacrificing for, marriage is number one.
So Jenn, go be a professional Disney princess for both of us :)

more christmas vacation yo

Hey hey!

Brett and I are back in el Provo. And surprisingly, the weather is great! I didn't even have to wear a jacket yesterday! Wahoo!

Here are some more pictures from our vacation in Danville.

Brett made vegetable juice with his new juicer (if you mix lemons and apples with it it's not nearly as gross)

Brett and I spent a lot of quality time together

I naturally took weird pictures of myself. this is my super angry evil face. are you intimidated?

we celebrated Mama Candland's birthday with Mexican food

the girls got manicures to celebrate the new year

we watched her dog for a few days while she went to Vegas with her fiance and friends. Gosh, I wanted to keep her dog. She was a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e.

my nails and my beautiful wedding ring. Didn't Brett do such a good job? I love it love it love it

Tara and I made a few Barefoot Contessa recipes from a cookbook I got from one of my bridal showers. We made flank steak with provencal butter, rolls, and delicious salad with cinnamon and maple syrup soaked butternut squash, cranberries, goat cheese crumbles and homemade dressing. My my the whole meal was to die for

We also went to a wedding, the jewelry mart in San Fran (where I got 3 dollar earrings), a baby blessing, and saw Mission Impossible, etc. etc. We played lots and lots of games including Dix It which is a really cute game that everyone should get and watched a lot of episodes of Leverage and Once Upon a Time. Ok, is anyone as obsessed with the new show Once Upon a Time as I am? I freaking love that show! So my type of thing probably because I'm a really big dork.

We also might have slept through the New Year. I woke Brett up 10 seconds before midnight so that we could kiss (it was our first New Years together) and that was the extent of our New Years festivities. hahaha.

Anywho, we had a fabulous break and I'm less than thrilled to be back to school. Hope you all had or are still having a vunderbar vacation!

the one new years resolution

Spend less time on the computer and TV and more time exploring nature and exercising like this:

hiking Mount Diablo.
Happy New Year boys and girls!
